Horseback Riding Instruction
|

Providing riding lessons and horsemanship instruction to establish a solid foundation with a balanced seat and independent, gentle hands. We strive for a safe, fun, relaxed and educational environment whether working with your own horse or riding one of our lesson horses, at your barn or ours.
When we say all ages and skill levels are welcome we aren't kidding. We have clients as young as 4 and those that are close to 70.
Some of our clients came to us having never ridden a horse before, some were just new to dressage. Our job is to help you reach your goals, whether that's riding for the fun of it or to get out there and compete in horse shows. Everyone progresses at their own rate and comfort level.
Your lessons are tailor made for your success and progression; as well as for you to relax and enjoy riding. We won't put you in a big group lesson where you only get a few minutes of your instructors time. You will get the attention you deserve and that is needed for success, enjoyment and safety.

For Our Young Riders
Incentive and Motivation Program
For our very young riders we have a unique motivation and incentive program. As far as we know, we are the only ones in the area with such a program. Of course we can't give the details away here or everyone else would implement it. This program has been very successful at helping even the youngest of riders stay on task, work towards goals at every lesson, and make progress, all the while having fun. Various exercises and games are used to help enhance understanding, balance, and abilities. Due to restrictions in our insurance, we do not offer lessons for children under the age of 5.
Certificates of Riding Proficiency
For our young riders, and even our young at heart who are interested, we have 5 levels of riding and horsemanship proficiency which can be achieved. The goal of these proficiency levels is to promote goal setting, self-appraisal, and self-motivation. In addition, we use these certifications to recognize accomplishment and to increase enjoyment by encouraging riders to build confidence and independence through equestrian activities. These levels describe a clear progression of skills in riding and horse management. Each level has measurable standards which must be met. Riders are encouraged to proceed through these skills at a pace that is comfortable for them. Various exercises and games are used to help enhance understanding, balance, and abilities.
A certificate, which is suitable for framing, is presented as each level is realized. In addition, we recognize the accomplishment on our facebook page, and in our newsletter.

We want our clients to feel welcome, to look forward to coming to the barn, and to not feel as though they have to worry if they can't make it up to the barn. We enjoy taking care of horses and it shows. We offer a variety of extra services as well. All in an effort to make your life easier and more enjoyable and to keep your horse happy and healthy.
Horse Training
|
|
Horses are accepted for training. Lorri believes in a kind, patient, careful approach to teaching horses. We do not believe in short cuts and quick fixes. Maintaining the horses in-born spirit and expressiveness is important. Horse and rider should form a partnership, and have a relationship of trust. This can only come from handling each horse with kindness, consistency and respect. Lorri treats each horse as though they were her own.
Contact us to set up an training program designed specifically for your horse and your goals. Whether your horse is new to dressage, just needs a little tune-up, or you need help getting to the next level, we can help.
Lorri especially enjoys working with horses that are new to dressage, whether they are young or older. Off the track thoroughbreds are welcome. We really enjoy the relearning process with these guys. They take a little extra patience and sensitivity, but they make very nice riding horses.
Lorri prefers to only have 2 to 3 horses working in full-time training with her at one time. That way each one gets the attention they deserve, and she still has time to ride her own horses. As horses complete their training, or move to being ridden on a part-time basis, openings become available. Please feel free to contact us about openings for training.
