Training

Horses are accepted for training. I believe in a kind, patient, careful approach to teaching horses. I do not believe in short cuts and quick fixes. Maintaining the horses in-born spirit and expressiveness is important. Horse and rider should form a partnership, and have a relationship of trust. This can only come from handling each horse with kindness, consistency and respect. I treat each horse as though they were my own.
Positive reactions of the horse to the riders aids should be rewarded immediately. I believe that negative reactions are typically due to confusion on the horses part or a signal that what you are asking for is physically difficult for the horse to perform. Its up to the rider to sort out the reason for the negative reaction. The rider needs to be more clear about what she is asking, or consider that maybe the horse is not yet ready for this lesson and take a step back to better prepare the horse.
I especially enjoy working with horses that are new to dressage, whether they are young or older.
Thoroughbreds off the track are welcome. I enjoy the relearning process with these guys. They take a little extra patience and sensitivity, but they make very nice riding horses.
I prefer to only have 2 to 3 horses working in full-time training with me at one time. That way each one gets the attention they deserve, and I still have time to ride my own horses. As horses complete their training, or move to being ridden on a part-time basis, openings become available. Please feel free to contact me about openings for training.
